I couldn't help it again. So many shots of the same pose, but so many cute little faces! She is the best, and hope you can see it in these pictures! Love the smiles, the tiny tongue sticking out, and the funny faces she makes. My favorite is when I look over at her, find her watching me, and then she gives me a huge grin. I love that so much. This month I am increasingly grateful that I am able to be with her everyday. I am thankful I get to watch her grow, watch her learn, and see all of her firsts. I'm trying and doing better at letting the "to do" list go when the opportunity arises to just hold her or sit on the floor and play a little longer, because that is why I am staying home. I am so thankful to be here with her right now.
6 Months Old!
Weight: 15 lbs. 7 oz.
Length: 27.5 inches
1. Eating? This past month Ellie has been eating cereal on a more regular basis, and has tried some homemade baby food too! I made carrots, sweet potatoes, and broccoli, and she has tried all three. Though she is not too keen on any of these veggies, we will keep trying! She is still nursing, and I think that is what she prefers, which I'm not going to lie, I love that she loves it so much!
2. Sleeping? Our girl is still sleeping good at night, about 10-12 hours, but has had a rough time going to sleep. She used to just go right to sleep! She had her first fit of congestion earlier this month, which started it all, but we are just trying to figure it out each day (or night). She DOES take a good nap most days! So that is something to brag about! Hooray!
3. Milestones? Trying baby food has been one of the biggest first for Ellie this month, and watching her try to eat is pretty darn hilarious. Silly girl!
Broccoli, carrots, and sweet potatoes made by me!

This month, Ellie also learned how to hold her own bottle, even though she doesn't need it too often. She looks so old when she does it! She rolls over all the time now, and started sleeping on her belly, and is starting to figure out how to roll back over. She can't do it every time though, and gets made when that darn arm get in her way! Haha...But she is rolling all around in her bed like a little worm!
4. Activities and adventures?
We had a bit of a calmer month with Ellie, but it was still filled with fun, friends, and family! We took a little family trip, with Mimi and Aunt Jayne, to the Kansas State Fair! It was the first time for Chris and Ellie, and I was so excited to share it with them! On the way there, we were also able to stop by this little Amish farm, with a tent of homemade items that we could buy. Breads, pies, desserts, cinnamon rolls, canned pickles and salsa, and more! We then headed into Hutchinson, and into the most beautiful historic neighborhood to find parking. We finally arrived at the fair and met up with Sara, Aunt Jayne, Aunt Donna, and Mimi, and shared my favorites, bierocks and beef and gravy sandwich! Yum! And we couldn't leave that building before laying our eyes on the butter sculpture too.

We had to stop in and see all the baby animals and birthing mommas in the birthing barn! So cute! I also love the domestic building, filled with handmade quilts, canned goods, and desserts. Ellie matched this quilt to well to not take her picture by it!
Our second day at the fair, we finally got to meet the Purdy girls! Hooray! They are so big, and watching the interaction of the girls so neat. Love this picture of us!
We had a wonderful time, and it was so nice to have some time away from the hustle of the everyday. We were able to spend time just as a family, and with our extended family too. So thankful that we got to have this little vacation!
Ellie also got her first taste of the Oklahoma State Fair with us and Auntie Fran! We had to have Indian tacos, cinnamon rolls, and tried some fried watermelon! And we found the car of our dreams...A Ford Flex! Haha...Well, we had a fun evening out with our little group!
After I got my last paycheck, I quickly realized that I wanted to find something to do that would give me an income to help with our family's expenses, especially those fun expenses. Tee hee...So an answer to prayer happened when a good friend of mine, Calypso, asked if I could watch her kiddos after school! I quickly said yes! Ian and Aspen love our Lucy, and I am having such a good time hanging with these kids each day. It gives me a glimpse into the future too, of what it will be like to be a mom of big kids, so I am loving it! We have Movie Monday, Treat Tuesday, Walk Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday, and Fun Friday!
And this month we had our long-awaited Tiger Baby Picnic for all the new babies added to our Tiger family! There were so many of us that were pregnant together and shared these experiences that we really became like a family. There were monthly celebrations for each of these babies, and a fun countdown to "who's next?" So with each new baby, there was a fresh excitement of new baby tigers, which spurred the idea for the matching onesies we got for the event.
They were all so funny and cute together: some running away with others toys, some sharing their pacifiers, some rolling over, some crying, some eating their sparkly tutus, and all of them giving some big smiles. The best part was when we sat all the babies down and just let them go. They were all over the place and it was hilarious!
I am so grateful for these people and their families. I can't wait to watch our children grow together, and I am looking forward to future Tiger Baby Picnics! What a fun day!
Our last big "adventure" for this month was the Color Run that I did with Joellen! I've "yogged" in a few 5Ks before, but this one was purely fun, and we got very colorified. We were so bright that we got many looks at the Outlets afterward and when we went and got pedicures with Jennie. Another once in a lifetime experience that I am so thankful to have!
5. Favorite baby item? Pretty much any toy that jingles, crinkles, or googles, because it's what Ellie loves to grab and play with! I'm still loving my previous favorites, but this is just in addition to. She particularly likes this little soft Jack-O-Lantern pumpkin I've had for years waiting for little hands to love.
6. Favorite moment this past month? There are many simple and seemingly insignificant moments that I'd like to remember this month. Her morning smiles and crazy hair on the weekend in our bed, the sweet way she snuggles with me while she nurses, the kicking legs when she gets excited about something, and the big grins she lovingly gives when I look over and find her looking back at me. I am in love with this little girl, and sharing everyday is such a blessing to me.
7. Looking forward to this next month? Her first Halloween and sharing more of what I love most about fall! Walks in the cool, crisp air, pumpkins, mums, changing leaves, and Trick-or-Treating! Have I mentioned this is my favorite time of year?
8. Visitors?: Eloise got to meet some of our Kansas family! At the Kansas State Fair, she met Aunt Donna, Jon Purdy, and the Purdy girls, Emma and Rylie! They were all so sweet to her, and she was happy to meet them!
9. One thing I've learned: I always thought that at some point, a parent figures out what they're doing. What I've learned is that is not true, but that each day is a new day with new delights and new challenges. I thought it also meant we would get in a structured schedule, but I've realized a better way to describe it is a "rhythm". We are getting into a rhythm that is good for me, for Chris, and for Ellie, and though it is not exactly the same each day, it is working for us. I am so happy right now.
10. My message to Ellie:
With you turning 6 months old, I just about want to cry, because that means we are already half way to 1 year! Oh my! But I am loving each beautiful day with you, and being able to watch you learn and grow. I am glad my time and attention doesn't have to be divided, but that I can just focus on you. There are so many times each day that I look at you and think, "You are just so beautiful! REALLY beautiful!". I knew I'd love you with all my heart and think you were beautiful, but I had no idea it could this much. I just want to squish you because you are so darn cute! :) You are the best morning sunshine, and I love waking up to your smiles. This past month, you've tried out baby food, which is pretty hilarious to watch you eat. You've also learned to hold a bottle and are almost sitting up by yourself on a regular basis! I am so glad you are mine, and I love you, my little pumpkin!
Here are some more of our favorites from this past month...
Thank you for reading about our ordinarily beautiful life!
